Hey there friend! I want to feel you three things that always help cheer me up when I’m especially down in the dumps. These are cheap and easy things that I’ve found help bring a smile to my face no matter my mood.
- Painting my nails
There’s something that makes me feel extra put together when my nails are painted. There’s no chipped manicure lingering on dirty nails with raggedy cuticles and I love using a brighter color if the occasion allows. Essie is always my go-to brand for polishes. I find it streaks less and has such a smooth application, perfect for an at-home mani-pedi.
2. Arranging fresh flowers
I am obsessed with flowers. Planted, cut, dried, or pressed, I love them all. Having an arrangement of cut flowers on my table not only makes my apartment smell better but adds so much beauty to any space. Trader Joe’s always has such a nice selection of flowers to choose from and floral design is such a fun skill to learn. If you are in the greater Seattle area, I highly recommend checking out Down To Earth florist in Snoqualmie. I have never seen an arrangement they have made that I do not completely adore.
3. Fancy water
This sounds simple and perhaps a little silly but it genuinely makes my day so much better. Hydration has never been my forte but when I have a cute mason jar with a lemon wedge, ice cubes, maybe a mint leaf, and my trusty metal straw, I could drink a gallon of water in a day. Your whole body feels better when you are properly hydrated so it’s not a huge surprise that this is something that cheers me up.
Honestly, I wish this list were longer and that more of the simple things in life brought me as much joy, but I remind myself that this is a journey and I have to start somewhere. I hope to someday share a list of 20 little things that always make me smile, but, for today, this is enough.
Goodbye friend,
-Laura
James 1:2-4 ESV Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
